How to do it

Set a light barbell across your upper back inside a squat rack with the safeties set appropriately. Bend your knees slightly and hold that position while raising your heels. Pause briefly at the top, then lower your heels under control without straightening your knees or turning the movement into a squat.

Form cues

  • Hold the knee bend steady.
  • Move through your ankles, not your knees.
  • Lower your heels slowly.
