How to do it

Start with a few minutes of walking or easy jogging, then build the pace gradually rather than jumping straight to speed. Run tall with the feet landing under the hips instead of reaching out in front, and keep the stride relaxed. Increase pace or incline before you increase both, and stop if any joint pain shows up rather than pushing through.

Form cues

  • Land under the hips, not out front
  • Build pace gradually
