How to do it

Stand a step back from a high pulley, hinge slightly at the hips, and lock the elbows at a fixed soft angle. Pull the bar or rope down in an arc to the thighs using the lats only, then let it rise back overhead into a stretch. If you feel it in the triceps, your elbows are bending — the sensation should be in the armpit and along the lats.

Form cues

  • Elbows locked at a fixed soft angle
  • Feel it in the armpit, not the triceps
