How to do it

Place the forearm against a doorframe with the elbow bent to 90 degrees and roughly at shoulder height. Step through gently with the same-side foot and rotate the chest away until you feel a stretch across the front of the shoulder and chest, then hold and breathe. Keep the elbow at shoulder height rather than above it, and back off immediately if the front of the shoulder pinches — a stretch is fine, a pinch is not.

  • Lean, do not push into pain
