How to do it

Stand tall at a high pulley with a bar attachment, elbows tucked at the ribs and the forearms at about parallel to start. Push down to a full lockout, squeeze briefly, then let the bar rise back under control. The elbows stay at the ribs the whole time — if they drift forward or the torso leans over the bar, the weight is too heavy.

Form cues

  • Elbows stay at the ribs
  • Full lockout, brief squeeze
