How to do it

Set the thigh pad snug, take a grip slightly wider than shoulder width, and lean back only a small amount — then stay there. Pull the bar to the collarbone by driving the elbows down, squeeze, and let the bar rise under control to a full stretch. Never pull behind the neck, and do not turn it into a row by rocking the torso.

Form cues

  • Small backward lean, then stay still
  • Pull to the collarbone, not behind the neck
