How to do it

Sit on a bench set to 30–45 degrees, kick the dumbbells up to the shoulders, and set the shoulder blades back and down. Press up until the arms are nearly straight without clashing the bells, then lower until you feel a good stretch across the chest. Control the descent and stop when the shoulders start to roll forward — chasing extra depth here is what strains the front of the shoulder.

Form cues

  • Do not clash the bells at the top
  • Stretch the chest at the bottom
