How to do it

Start on hands and knees, walk the hands forward until the body forms a straight line from knees to head, and cross or lift the feet. Lower the chest to the floor with the elbows at roughly forty-five degrees from the body, then press back up without letting the hips sag or pike. When full sets feel controlled, move the pivot from knees to toes — that is the full push-up.

Form cues

  • One straight line from knees to head
  • Chest to the floor, elbows about forty-five degrees
